What's Wrong?

In Cowork mode, voice input fails to record. When I click the microphone icon, the mic opens for a brief moment and then immediately cancels itself before I can dictate anything. No transcription is produced and no error message or notification is shown.

This is isolated to Cowork. Voice input works correctly in both Claude chat and Claude Code on the same machine, with the same microphone, in the same session — so the microphone, OS-level mic permissions, the transcription service, and my network connection are all confirmed working. Only Cowork's voice input is affected.

The bug persists regardless of whether "Hold to record" is toggled on or off, so it's not specific to push-to-talk vs tap mode.

Note: this is NOT the same as issue #43575. In that issue, typing breaks and voice input is the workaround that restores it. Here it's the opposite — typing works fine, and voice input is the thing that fails. Clicking into the text field to force focus before triggering the mic does not help.

What Should Happen?

Clicking the microphone icon in Cowork should open the mic, keep it open while I speak, and transcribe my speech into the input field — the same as it does in chat and Code.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Open Cowork mode
2. Click the microphone icon in the input area
3. Observe: the mic opens briefly, then cancels on its own within roughly a second
4. No audio is captured, no text is transcribed, and no error is shown
5. Confirm voice input works normally in Claude chat and Claude Code on the same machine

Additional Information

Cowork-only: chat voice and Code voice both confirmed working on the same machine and mic.

• Single microphone only — built-in MacBook Air microphone, set as the system default input. No external mics and no input-device switching, so this is not a "default input device changed" scenario.
• Bug persists with "Hold to record" both enabled and disabled.
• No error messages, notifications, or visible logs — the mic UI just opens and self-cancels.
• Distinct from #43575 (that issue is typing-breaks/voice-rescues; this is typing-works/voice-fails).
