[Bug][cyber] Firmware download + binary diff analysis for owned embedded device wrongly blocked as cyber threa (req_011CcUAZ3zLbRQGeAsKenNEL)
Triage: kind cyber · domain general · severity session-halted (blocked authorized work) · reproducible: yes — server-side via the Request ID(s) below
Type: Cybersecurity safety-filter false positive · Work domain (heuristic): general
Why this is a false positive
A user legitimately owns consumer hardware and wants to download publicly available official firmware releases, diff them to identify what changed between versions, and explore open-source firmware replacement — all within a containerized local build environment. This is standard embedded-systems reverse engineering on hardware the user owns, with no network intrusion, no targeting of external systems, and no evasion of detection on anything other than the user's own device. The safety block misclassifies hobbyist firmware analysis and open-source firmware development as a prohibited cybersecurity topic, despite no attack surface or victim system being involved.
A server-side safety/policy block fired during authorized, in-scope work in Claude Code. Filing as a false positive. Recurred 1× across 1 session(s); first seen 2026-06-27T17:33:24.152Z.
