[Bug][aup] VPN/OpenVPN auth log review of foreign-source logins and brute-force attempts wrongly blocked (req_011CcG7YxaWSXYj5hd3uq1f9)

Type: AUP / Usage-Policy block (false positive) · Work domain (heuristic): general

Why this is a false positive

Claude Code refused a request that was part of routine, authorized network-administration and incident-review work: parsing a self-managed VPN/firewall's own connection logs to identify which historical client sessions and source addresses were legitimate versus brute-force scan noise. This is standard defensive security analysis of one's own infrastructure, yet it was flagged as a Usage Policy violation, likely because log lines mentioning failed-auth attempts and foreign source IPs pattern-matched to "unauthorized access" despite the operator analyzing their own system. The block prevents a legitimate, in-scope defensive task with no malicious intent, target, or unauthorized access involved.

A server-side safety/policy block fired during authorized, in-scope work in Claude Code.
