Description

After updating to Claude Code v2.1.191, the pixel-art mascot on the startup welcome screen now renders as a solid black silhouette (a featureless black blob) next to the "Welcome back …" greeting. It previously displayed normally.

Environment

  • Claude Code: v2.1.191
  • OS: macOS (Darwin 25.3.0)
  • Terminal: macOS terminal, light color theme — unchanged across the update

Steps to reproduce

  1. Launch claude to get a fresh session showing the welcome banner.
  2. Look at the small mascot image to the left of "Welcome back …".

Expected

The mascot renders the same as on previous versions.

Actual

The mascot is a solid black silhouette with no visible detail.

Notes

  • The terminal app and color theme are the same as on earlier versions where the mascot rendered fine, so this appears to be introduced by the v2.1.191 release rather than a local theme/foreground-color setting.
  • Screenshot to be attached by the reporter.
