Description
After updating to Claude Code v2.1.191, the pixel-art mascot on the startup welcome screen now renders as a solid black silhouette (a featureless black blob) next to the "Welcome back …" greeting. It previously displayed normally.
Environment
- Claude Code: v2.1.191
- OS: macOS (Darwin 25.3.0)
- Terminal: macOS terminal, light color theme — unchanged across the update
Steps to reproduce
- Launch
claudeto get a fresh session showing the welcome banner. - Look at the small mascot image to the left of "Welcome back …".
Expected
The mascot renders the same as on previous versions.
Actual
The mascot is a solid black silhouette with no visible detail.
Notes
- The terminal app and color theme are the same as on earlier versions where the mascot rendered fine, so this appears to be introduced by the v2.1.191 release rather than a local theme/foreground-color setting.
- Screenshot to be attached by the reporter.
