Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report
  • [x] I am using the latest version of the Claude Desktop app

What's Wrong?

In the Claude Desktop app, when inside the Claude Code workspace, the mode
navigation bar (Chat / Code / Cowork) is rendered BELOW the file-explorer
panel buttons and is cut off / pushed outside the visible area. As a result
it is impossible to switch out of Claude Code back to Chat or Cowork.

The layout appears to overflow: the mode switcher sits underneath the file
explorer controls instead of beside/above them, so it is unreachable
regardless of scrolling.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open the Claude Desktop app
  2. Enter the Claude Code workspace
  3. Observe the top-left controls (panel toggles, search, minimize, back/forward)
  4. Try to locate and use the Chat / Code / Cowork mode switcher
  5. The mode switcher is positioned below the file-explorer buttons and is

clipped outside the viewport — it cannot be clicked

What I Already Tried (did not help)

  • Maximizing / resizing the window
  • Collapsing the file-explorer panel via the top-left toggle icons
  • Refreshing the window (Ctrl+R / Cmd+R)
  • Fully quitting and restarting the app
  • Keyboard shortcuts

Expected Behavior

The Chat / Code / Cowork mode switcher should remain visible and clickable
at all times so the user can leave the Claude Code workspace.
