Description
After the latest app update (around June 17–18, 2026), user-sent messages in the Claude Code panel no longer display in blue text. They now appear in grey, making them hard to distinguish from assistant responses.
Previously, with dark mode enabled and the "High-contrast dark theme" toggle on, user messages rendered in a distinct blue colour. This made conversations easy to scan.
Current behaviour
User messages appear in grey text regardless of theme settings.
Expected behaviour
User messages should appear in blue text (as they did before the update).
What I've tried
- Toggling "High-contrast dark theme" on and off — no change
- Switching between Claude Light / GitHub Dark code themes — no change
- Switching Appearance between Light / Dark / System — no change
- Restarting the app and the computer — no change
Environment
- macOS (Darwin 25.5.0)
- Claude desktop app (latest update, version 1.13576.0 or newer)
- Dark mode with "High-contrast dark theme" enabled
- GitHub Dark code theme selected
