[BUG] Claude native install message persists after removal and using homebrew (or other) binary install

Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

After temporarily installing Claude Code using the native installer, I switched back to the homebrew tap.

I manually removed ~/.local/bin/claude and ~/.claude/local. The message persists:
claude command at <HOMEDIR>/.local/bin/claude missing or broken · run claude install to repair

What Should Happen?

Message should not persist if a binary of any install exists.
