[BUG] Windows MSIX Installation Fails with Error 0x80073CF6 - File Download Issues

What's Wrong?

Issue: Claude Desktop (MSIX) Installation Fails on Windows with Error 0x80073CF6

Environment:
Windows (Version 25H2, OS Build 26200.8655)
PowerShell running as Administrator
Claude.msix download from https://claude.ai/download

Problem:
Unable to install Claude Desktop application. Multiple installation attempts have failed with the following issues:

  • Initial MSIX Installation Error: Error code 0x80073CF6 when attempting to install Claude.msix
  • DISM Repair Attempted: Ran DISM commands to repair Windows component store, but installation still fails
  • Download Issues: Claude.msix file does not appear in Downloads folder after clicking download button from https://claude.ai/download (attempted 4+ times)
  • PowerShell Path Error: When attempting manual installation via Add-AppxPackage -Path "Claude.msix", receives error "Cannot find path 'C:\windows\system32\Claude.msix' because it does not exist"
  • File Not Found: After navigating to Downloads folder and running ls Claude.msix, file does not exist despite multiple download attempts

Steps Already Tried:

  • Downloaded from https://claude.ai/download multiple times
  • Ran PowerShell as Administrator
  • Attempted DISM repair commands
  • Tried direct download links
  • Attempted installation from different directories
  • Checked Downloads folder - file never appears

Current Status:

  • Claude Code Terminal version is installed and working
  • Desktop MSIX installation completely blocked
  • Download may be failing silently or Windows MSIX deployment system has persistent issues

What Should Happen?

Expected Behavior:

  • Claude.msix should download successfully and install without errors
