Problem Statement

claude code 2.1.169 / mac os / verbose mode off / TUI fullscreen mode

The user reject msg to an edit is not shown anywhere. Ctrl + o also does not show it. The user msg is clearly very important. Without it I sometimes get confused as to why an edit was made multiple times. Worse, I sometimes write an essay in the reject msg and they don't show up anywhere.

_Workaround:_

  • Claude Desktop app: expand the edit msg (which is a very non-obvious one-liner tuck between giant Claude replies to begin with) to actually see the reject msg.
  • CC: With thinking summary turned on, expanding the thinking process also offers a hint to the reason of rejection.

Bottom line: user's prompt should be front and center, that includes the reject msg.

Proposed Solution

A setting to configure this or just show the reject msg for everyone. Again, its part of user prompt. If you hide this, why don't you hide regular user prompt too?
