Don't submit on Enter or make Shift-Enter go to the next line.
Oftentimes, Claude Code prompts are elaborate and require multiple lines, including error logs, outputs, and other details. Submitting on Enter or Shift+Enter makes writing multi-line prompts a difficult and frustrating process. For simple chat applications, it makes sense to use Enter to submit. However, even in those cases, leading web chat interfaces (like ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.) handle this better: Gemini doesn’t submit on Enter, while ChatGPT and most others use Shift+Enter to add a new line without submitting.
As paying customers, accidental incomplete submissions not only disrupt our workflow but also waste tokens. A simple adjustment to the input behavior could save many of us both time and money.
