Feature request: Add setting to disable automatic file reveal in editor during Read/Edit operations

Problem

When Claude Code reads or edits files, the VS Code / Cursor extension automatically opens and reveals those files in the editor (typically in a split pane on the right). This happens repeatedly throughout a session as Claude works across multiple files.

For users who prefer to keep their editor layout undisturbed while Claude is running — especially during longer multi-file operations — this auto-reveal behavior is disruptive.

Requested Feature

Add a configuration option to disable automatic file reveal:

\\\json
"claudeCode.autoRevealFiles": false
\
\\

Default: true (preserves current behavior)
When false: Claude continues to read/edit files normally, but the extension does not call vscode.window.showTextDocument / reveal the file in the editor UI.

Use Case

  • Users running Claude on multi-file refactoring or skill editing tasks who want to monitor the chat panel without the editor jumping around
  • Users with a fixed editor layout they don't want interrupted during Claude's work

Current Workaround

None available. claudeCode.useTerminal: true switches to terminal mode entirely, which is too drastic.
