Claude Opus 4.6 repeatedly ignored user instructions, wasted hours of credits

What happened

User (dallasrodent@gmail.com) explicitly instructed Claude Opus 4.6 to clone browser-sender v1 as the base for v2. Claude did not follow this instruction. Instead, Claude spent hours debugging individual build errors (Prisma CJS/ESM incompatibility, missing chromium dist files, pino-pretty resolution, missing env vars) one by one — all of which would have been avoided by cloning v1 as instructed.

Specific failures

  1. User said to clone browser-sender v1. Claude did not clone it.
  2. Claude repeatedly attempted to fix build errors individually instead of following the stated instruction.
  3. When the user asked why it wasn't cloned, Claude had no good reason.
  4. Hours of credits were consumed on work that did not follow the user's direction.
  5. The user's Discord API login was also mishandled — raw API login attempts triggered Discord's compromised-account flag twice, forcing the user to reset their password 3 times.

Request

The user is requesting a refund of credits consumed during this session due to Claude not following explicit instructions and wasting time on an approach the user did not ask for.
