[BUG] Claude Code on the web: Request timed out after 30 minutes with no response, but tokens were still consumed

Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

When using Claude Code on the web, after sending a message there was no response for approximately 30 minutes, after which only a Request timed out error message was displayed. Despite not receiving any response, token usage was still deducted from my quota.

What Should Happen?

  • A response should be returned within a reasonable time, OR
  • If a timeout occurs and no response is delivered, tokens should not be consumed for the failed request
