What Happened

I used Claude Code to build VEMO FuelIQ (vemofuel.com), a commercial maritime SaaS platform. Across multiple weeks of work, significant tokens were wasted due to repeated AI errors:

1. Swiper.js broke homepage completely - Claude replaced working hero carousel with Swiper.js causing all slides to overlap. Required 7 extra fix deploys and multiple full re-reads of 1000+ line files.

1. AOS.js made entire page invisible - Claude removed animation trigger JS while leaving opacity:0 CSS. Every page section became invisible. Required 3 more fix cycles.

1. Same files read 15-20 times - index.html, CLAUDE.md and memory files were repeatedly read across sessions instead of being retained.

1. Imprecise global changes - sed commands for domain and color changes were incomplete and repeated multiple times.

1. 5 context compaction cycles - Each required expensive re-loading of already-processed context.

Estimated Cost

Total project: 50-80 USD. AI errors caused 40-50% waste = 0-40 lost. Claude Code itself confirmed these mistakes when asked directly.

This user is an independent founder using personal savings, not a corporate budget.
