[Bug] Message editing submits previous version instead of edited content

Bug Description
Escape and message editing are not working properly. When we try to edit a message and submit it, the previous version is submitted instead of the edited one.

After this happens, we are unable to enter any new messages until we completely exit and resume the same session.
