+1 here
team plan same message+1
Personal plan, not even supposed to be getting it.
This needs to be fixed ASAP! There is now 3 issues open on this same issue.
It is confusing a lot of people, especially cause of the Claude code being pulled for pro plan rumours.
The title matches a real wording problem (the body of this issue is about something else). When the limit is the user's own monthly overage budget, the "You've hit your org's monthly usage limit" message reads as a hard ceiling from Anthropic, not a self-imposed cap the user can raise.
Suggested rewrite for the overage case: "You've hit your monthly budget for extra usage. To keep going, raise your limit at [link to billing settings]." That names what was hit and the action to take.
See issue #52908
My monthly limit warning was triggered by running out of 5 hour credits, while still having plenty of weekly credits.
Because Claude does not have a monthly usage view, the warning should be rephrased.
I don’t even have a team/org plan, just Pro, and I just got this message.
It's exactly this: You enable overage, you hit that overage during one session, you get this error. The "org limit" was just a carryover from enterprise.
Same happened here
Session
Total cost: $506.37
Total duration (API): 7h 43m 16s
Total duration (wall): 8d 17h 28m
Total code changes: 9736 lines added, 367 lines removed
Usage by model:
claude-haiku-4-5: 187.7k input, 14.8k output, 0 cache read, 311.4k cache write, 20 web search ($0.85)
claude-opus-4-7: 19.7k input, 1.6m output, 780.6m cache read, 12.0m cache write ($505.52)
I have been at work for 2 1/2 hours. This is impossible for me do have racked this up[.
Same issue here -- hit my 5 hour limit on a 5x Max plan and got the "You've hit your org's monthly usage limit" -- this was from an agent using the Agent SDK
I have Extra usage turned on but it was already at it's spend cap. Seems like that might be a factor in getting this specific error message from some of the messages above.
