What's Wrong?
Cowork sandbox stuck for 30+ hours — session cannot be recovered
Mac OS Sonoma 14.8, desktop app (latest version)
I'm experiencing a persistent issue with the Cowork desktop app where the sandbox environment has been stuck for over 30 hours and cannot recover automatically.
Error messages:
bash failed on resume, create, and re-resume.
resume: RPC error: failed to mount /mnt/.virtiofs-root/shared/Users/****/Documents/Claude/Projects/**as *****: source path is not accessible: stat ...: operation not permitted
create: RPC error: ensure user: user eloquent-lucid-cori already exists unexpectedly: uid=1014 gid=1014
Details:
The source folder exists on my machine and is accessible
Restarting the Cowork app does not resolve the issue
The issue has persisted since approximately April 16, 2026
It appears the sandbox session eloquent-lucid-cori is stuck in a broken state on the server side and needs to be manually cleaned up.
What Should Happen?
Sandbox should work (again)
