[Feature Request] Slack integration UX improvements: auto-reply, mute/unmute mode, no @mention requirement
Summary
When using claude.ai's Slack integration, the current UX requires users to @mention Claude in every message, which creates significant friction for daily use.
Requested Improvements
1. Remove mandatory @mention requirement
Currently, users must @mention Claude in every single message to get a response. This is tedious and adds unnecessary friction, especially in active conversations.
2. Mute / Unmute mode
Allow users to toggle Claude between:
- Active mode: Claude responds to all messages in a channel/thread without needing @mention
- Mute mode: Claude only responds when explicitly @mentioned
This would give users fine-grained control over when Claude participates.
3. Auto-reply in threads
When a user replies to a thread that Claude is already participating in, Claude should automatically respond without requiring a new @mention. This is how most chat-based AI assistants work and is the expected behavior.
Why This Matters
Our team uses Claude via Slack throughout the day. The constant need to @mention adds up to significant friction and breaks the conversational flow. These improvements would make the Slack integration feel much more natural and productive.
Environment
- claude.ai Slack integration
- Team of ~5 engineers using it daily
