[BUG] Claude Closing Automatically when clicking on Claude Code - macOS 26.4.1 (25E253)

What's Wrong?

Bug Description
Claude Desktop app closes entirely when clicking into the Code section. The app shuts down completely rather than returning to the main Claude screen. This started after an automatic app update on the evening of 14 April 2026.

Environment

• Platform: macOS 26.4.1 (25E253)
• Hardware: Apple Silicon
• Claude Desktop version: latest (auto-updated ~14 April 2026)
• Claude Code CLI version: 2.1.101
• Beta software: No

Expected Behaviour
Claude Code session should load as normal.

Actual Behaviour
The entire Claude Desktop application closes silently within approximately 5 seconds. No crash report is generated in Console.app.

Troubleshooting Already Attempted

• Checked Claude status page — no active incidents
• Checked for Desktop app updates and installed latest version
• Cleared session data at ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude-code/
• Reinstalled the Desktop app
• Installed Claude Code CLI (v2.1.101) via install.sh as a workaround — CLI works correctly when navigating to project directory
• No crash logs available in Console.app — app exits silently with no stack trace

Workaround
CLI works via Terminal using the binary at:
/Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude-code/2.1.101/claude.app/Contents/MacOS/claude

Additional Notes
The issue began the evening of 14 April 2026, coinciding with what appears to be an automatic Desktop app update. macOS 26.4.1 (25E253) is a recent release and may not have been covered in pre-release testing. No beta software is installed.

What Should Happen?

It would let me go through to Claude Code...!
