claude code cannot connect to chrome and take any action.

Im on the max plan.
Using the latest claude code version.
chrome extension connected.
same acct used for claude code and for chrome.
/mcp shows chrome is connected. enabled.
BUT, code is unable to connect to chrome and perform any actions.
removed claude code desktop to keep it clean- no luck.

Im on a macbook pro. Im able to connect to chrome on Mac desktop.
