Bash timeouts on all commands (Linux, .bashrc, noclobber)

Using claude-code on a remote Linux server connected through ssh, any actions involving bash will cause claude to spin forever. This is true for both user commands started by typing !, and when claude itself tries to run commands like find, git, etc
