[BUG] Pro plan consumes promotional credits despite session limit not reached

What's Wrong?

Hi, it seems that Claude / Claude Code has undocumented behavior or bug (not sure which of these), where when you're on Pro Plan and use Opus 4.6 [1M context], once you reach 200k tokens in the context, it starts consuming your credits. Regardless of your current session limit or weekly limit not having been reached.

In my case these are promotional credits from the launch of Opus 4.6.

I'm using the Claude Code plugin for Android Studio. The issue happened for second time (funnily the first time was roughly the exact time last week - not sure if it's related) and the only common thing in both situations was that I was over 200k tokens in my context. This time I decided to start a fresh new chat, but again with 1M context and requesting Claude Code to do something rather small did not consume from my credits, but from my session limit (a few %).

I know issue #23315 looks similar, but mine my be related to specifically crossing the 200k context. It might be working as expected, but I don't see it documented anywhere.

What Should Happen?

I think if this is the intended behavior, there should be an indication somewhere (warning being output in the session, for example), that you're about to start consuming your credits despite you haven't hit your session/weekly limit.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Start new chat, preferably on the Android Studio plugin.
2. Monitor the context as it grows.
3. Pay attention when it crosses 200k - it starts consuming your credits instead of your session limit.
4. Open a new chat with fresh context and ask Claude Code to do something that would consume enough so the usage is updated -> result is that now the session limit is consumed (a few %) and credits stay intact.
