Configurable Scorch bubble display duration

Resolved 💬 2 comments Opened Apr 2, 2026 by abba-01 Closed Apr 6, 2026

Summary

The Scorch companion bubble disappears too fast to read. Users who type quickly or have attention/processing differences miss the content entirely.

Request

Add a configurable display duration for the Scorch speech bubble — either:

  • A global setting in Claude Code preferences (e.g., bubble duration: 5s / 10s / 30s / until dismissed)
  • A click-to-dismiss option so the bubble stays until the user acknowledges it
  • Or both

Impact

Scorch's comments are often valuable (contextual, timely, sometimes the only signal the user catches mid-scroll). Losing them to a fast timer defeats the purpose of having a companion at all.

User context

User is a fast typist on a mechanical keyboard. By the time fingers leave the keys, the bubble is gone.
