Feature Request: Persistent upgradeable companion with real-time code/prompt feedback

Summary

The April 1st /buddy feature sparked an idea for a genuinely useful persistent companion system.

Feature Idea

An always-visible companion (sidebar or overlay) that:

  • Watches your prompts and code in real-time and offers proactive suggestions ("you forgot error handling", "this prompt could be more specific about the output format")
  • Has an upgrade system — starts basic, can be leveled up with specializations like:
  • Security reviewer
  • Prompt optimizer
  • Code quality advisor
  • Architecture reviewer
  • Persists across sessions with memory of your preferences and patterns
  • Non-intrusive — speaks up when it has something useful to say, not on every keystroke

Why This Would Be Useful

The current Wobble companion is fun but passive and context-free. A companion with actual domain knowledge and real-time context awareness would act as a lightweight second reviewer — catching things before you even submit a prompt.

Inspiration

The /buddy April Fools feature (hatch a creature that watches you code) showed there's appetite for this kind of interaction. Making it genuinely productive would be a natural evolution.

Prior Art

  • GitHub Copilot Chat sidebar
  • JetBrains AI Assistant
  • But none of these have the "personality/companion" angle that makes it engaging to interact with
