[BUG] lost chat history in AI Assistant

What's Wrong?

After the newest update to PhpStorm 2026.1 I did Invalidate Caches - Invalidate and Restart.

After that I can't read my old chats in the AI Assistant anymore. In each chat it now says "The selected mode requires a new chat. Your next message will start it automatically."

There are still some json files in .claude\projects, but they aren't linked to the chat messages in PhpStorm.

What Should Happen?

Please fix and recover the chat history.

• Update PhpStorm to 2026.1
• Invalidate Caches
• Invalidate and Restart.
