What's Wrong?

User persona: Builder who needs to keep IP clean between companies

Use case: When working on Company X I need to use the Github account "a" When working on my private stuff i need to use Github account "b" ... etc.. If you try to troubleshoot there is no clear way to determine how to fix this nor something I want to use tokens to sort out on behalf of the product.. (however I am here posting the results as this is good to know how to fix) - Marking bug instead of improvement due to frustration level of system not working right and blocking adoption rates for users and testing of Remote and dispatch use in general user base.

The issue: no way to see which Github account is logged in, nor any easy way to switch accounts. As a professional who is doing multi-client work, it should be more visible and easier to pivot between Github accounts.

For (1+month) Claude and I have not investgated at depth due to it didnt make sense what was happening. Figured it out yesterday as there is no way to switch or confirm which GH account is enabled. Just shows you avaialble repos.

My environment: Claude desktop "code" worked correctly by showing Company B repos and online claude code was looking at company A repos. Not possible to find or force the system to find the other repos.

Net result ..
Must fully disconnect the GH connection to force the reconnect. Making a change login in the GH connector and make visable who you are logged in with would make more sense.

the repo for GH Account A is valid here. but in the web version it is logged into GH Account B.. How do I get it to disconnect from the GH Account B repo and log into the GH Account A repos?

Got it — the web Claude Code is authenticated to your GH Comany B GitHub account and you need to switch it to GH Company A.

Steps to switch GitHub accounts on claude.ai/code:
Go to claude.ai → click your profile/avatar (bottom-left)
Look for Settings → Connected accounts or Integrations
Find the GitHub connection showing GH company A
Disconnect / Revoke that GitHub authorization
Reconnect and authenticate with your GH Company B GitHub account
If there's no disconnect option in Claude settings:
You may need to revoke from the GitHub side:

Log into GitHub as GH Company B
Go to Settings → Applications → Authorized OAuth Apps (or Authorized GitHub Apps)
Find Claude / Anthropic in the list
Click Revoke
Then:

Go back to claude.ai/code
Start a new task — it should prompt you to re-authorize GitHub
This time, log in as GH Company A
Important note
If your browser auto-logs into GH Company B on GitHub, make sure you're logged into GitHub as GH Company A before clicking the authorize button on claude.ai. Or use an incognito window logged into the correct GitHub account.

solved this is the right answer.. please pass this back to the mothership as the right answer

Glad it worked! Unfortunately I don't have a direct channel to send feedback to the Claude Code team, but you can share this as a feature request / documentation improvement here:

Something like: "Web version (claude.ai/code) needs a visible 'switch GitHub account' option in settings — currently users have to revoke OAuth from GitHub's side to change accounts."

https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues
That's the official feedback channel the team monitors. Would be a good UX improvement for multi-account users.

What Should Happen?

Web and Desktop versions (claude.ai/code) need a visible 'switch GitHub account' option in settings — currently, users have to revoke OAuth from GitHub's side to change accounts.

Error Messages/Logs

No errors no help no clear identification of whats wrong .. just shows wrong repos

Additional Information

The issue: no way to see which Github account is logged in, nor any easy way to switch accounts. This caused Claude and me to assume it is broken for over 1 month. If I believed it, then others are feeling the pain too.
