Bug Description

Claude Code exits with "Failed to find wrapped line in original text" when I paste é (U+00E9)

  1. Copy the Latin small letter e with acute character from the phrase "Cœur Brisé" into the clipboard.
  2. Paste the Latin small letter e with acute character into Claude Code (or a longer string containing the character)

Expected Behavior

The Latin small letter e with acute character should show up in the Claude Code prompt input box.

Actual Behavior

Claude Code immediately exits, with these error messages:

Debug: Failed to find wrapped line in original text Debug: Current text: é Debug: Full original text: é Debug: Search offset: 0 Debug: Wrapped text: é

Have the same problem after the msot recent update. Signficant slow down as sessions have to be restarted and all context is lost. Is it possible to get instruction to downgrade to the previous version please whilst this is fixed?

To give more context - anytime I past any code in the claude code chat interface, it hangs and I have to restart.

Also happens for me frequently when pasting anything longer than a few lines. It becomes unresponsive and requires a restart

We do have issues with long paste, especially in VS Code. However the original report of the problem with accented text does not repro for me, even in VS Code terminal

Can confirm, with an updated Claude Code, this no longer occurs.

Claude CLI version: 0.2.69 (Claude Code)
Operating System: macOS Sonoma 14.7 (M1)
Terminal: iTerm2
