[Bug] Upgrade notification blocks prompt output and cannot be dismissed without losing session

Bug Description
I use powerline and whenever there's an update, the upgrade message eats up half of my prompt and i can't read a lot of the info (like tokens, etc); and there's no way to dismiss the upgrade message without leaving the session and thus, losing all that information
