[FEATURE] Auto-compact outside of workflow

Problem Statement

When working with claude often we will be talking and i will send him off on a task. right in the middle of his thinking you auto -compact which can take up to 2-3 minute and THEN he answers my question. I cannot describe how absolutely infuriating this is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please for the love of god, do auto compact in the back ground while im reading the answer not while hes thinking of a response. it also makes him lose hos contextual train of through often and I have to re-prompt. seriously guys this is totally unnecessarily annoying.

Proposed Solution

Auto compact has to happen. please make it a background task or if it cant be, make it happen immediately after claude had delivered his reply. By the time i have read his response and type my own it would be done or at least mostly either way it would be less interrupting.

Alternative Solutions

make autocompact a background task that does not interrupt the conversation.
