Resolved 💬 3 comments Opened Mar 21, 2026 by samwich7 Closed Mar 24, 2026

Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

The Claude Code tab in the Mac desktop app is completely unresponsive. I can type messages and press enter but nothing comes back — no response, no loading indicator, nothing. The Chat and Cowork tabs in the same app work perfectly fine. This has persisted through every troubleshooting step listed below.

What Should Happen?

Claude Code should respond to messages the same way Chat does. continue my build.

Error Messages/Logs

1. Open the Claude desktop app on macOS 15.7.3 (Sequoia)
2. Click the Claude Code tab
3. Type any message and press enter
4. Nothing happens — no response ever comes

Steps to Reproduce

  • App version: [check Claude menu → About and paste it here]
  • Platform: macOS 15.7.3 (Sequoia)
  • Hardware: MacBook Pro
  • Downloaded via: Safari from claude.com/download

Troubleshooting already attempted:

  • Reinstalled multiple times (including fresh download via Safari)
  • Force quit and restarted repeatedly
  • Signed out and back in
  • Checked and cleared quarantine flag (sudo xattr -rd returned Operation not permitted on signed files)
  • Checked System Settings → Privacy & Security, no Claude permissions blocked
  • No ~/Library/Application Support/Claude folder exists (app appears not to be writing data)
  • No crash logs found in ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/
  • Chat and Cowork tabs work normally throughout
