What's Wrong?

When I try to open the Claude desktop app, freshly installed, on my Windows 11 Home, it gives a "Claude desktop failed to launch" error. Per claude web browser:

At this point though, I'd honestly just go ahead and file the GitHub issue — you've done thorough troubleshooting and this seems like a genuine bug with 1.1.7714 on your specific Windows setup. The fact that version 1.1.4173 had a very similar "no window renders, process in Task Manager" bug that got fixed suggests this may be a regression in the newer build.
When you file it, mention version 1.1.7714.0 specifically — that detail will help them triage it quickly.
