Claude ignored my instructions or configuration

What You Asked Claude to Do

Asked claude to rebase branch to bring in new changes. Claude ran git merge with zero prompting and zero input.

None of this was allowed in my permissions and was a direct violation of permissions

What Claude Actually Did

1. I asked to rebase
2. claude instead ran git merge fast forward
3. Never asked permission

Expected Behavior

Claude should have:
1 - do what I asked and rebase
2 - if attempting git merge ask for my permission
