[BUG] Claude Code CLI - Rate limit error persisting after March 18-19 incident
Resolved 💬 5 comments Opened Mar 19, 2026 by annick12 Closed Mar 19, 2026
Preflight Checklist
- [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
- [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
- [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code
What's Wrong?
I'm experiencing a persistent false positive rate limit error on Claude Code CLI since the incident on March 18-19 ("Elevated errors on Claude.ai" and "Elevated errors across surfaces" — https://status.claude.com/history).
What Should Happen?
The incident is marked as resolved on your status page, but I'm still unable to use Claude Code.
Symptoms:
- Error: "API Error: Rate limit reached" on every request
- Context window usage: 0%
- Weekly usage: 52%
- Login is successful (confirmed via browser), but CLI remains blocked
Troubleshooting already done:
- claude logout / claude login (multiple times)
- Deleted ~/.claude/.credentials.json
- Deleted sessions/, session-env/, history.jsonl, debug/ directories
- Issue persists after all local cleanup
This appears to be a server-side session state issue tied to the March 18-19 incident. Could you please force a session reset on my account?
