[Bug] Claude Code causes system freeze on Ubuntu, requires hard restart

Resolved 💬 3 comments Opened Mar 19, 2026 by Bienvenu-acclombessi Closed Mar 22, 2026

Bug Description
When using Claude Code on Ubuntu, the application frequently freezes and eventually causes the entire system to become unresponsive. This forces a manual restart of the computer, which results in data loss.

The issue appears to go beyond a simple application crash, as it affects the whole operating system instead of being isolated to Claude Code. In some cases, Ubuntu does not properly terminate the process or recover system resources, leading to a complete system freeze.

This behavior makes the tool unreliable for development use, especially when working on important tasks, due to the risk of losing unsaved data.
