[BUG] Remote Control not working on Ubuntu 24.04.4

Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

When I try to start a remote control session (via either claude --remote control OR /remote-control from within a Claude code session) I get the error others have reported - "Remote Control is not enabled for your account"

I use claude code on my Ubuntu 24.04.4 server via SSH. I frequently use screen sessions on my server (to allow for session disconnects, etc.). I have tried running remote control both in the SSH session directly, and in screen sessions launched from my SSH session. Both produce the same error.

None of the other issues I saw were for my specific use case on Ubuntu. Obviously, merge this with an existing ticket if that better fits your workflow.

Remote Control works fine from my Mac OS X terminal.

Happy to help troubleshoot further if/as needed.

Thanks for the great work! I live in Claude Code daily and love it.

What Should Happen?

Remote control sessions should work as they do from my Mac, where I can connect to it from my phone/iPad/web browser/etc.
