What's Wrong?

What's Wrong?
In the Claude Code desktop app, the Chat tab has a plain background, the Cowork tab has a grid background. The CODE tab (in Claude Code Desktop app) used to have a subtle and beautiful DOTTED background but now it is removed in the new update for no reason. Why was the dotted background from Claude Code > Code tab removed?

If Cowork tab can have a grid background without it being a problem, there's no coherent reason to strip the dotted background from the CODE tab in the Claude Code desktop app, especially when it served a functional purpose (tab identification) on top of being aesthetically nice, subtle and pretty and provided immediate visual context about which tab/surface you were in.

What was lost: The distinct per-surface background (dots for Claude CODE tab) that provided immediate visual context about which tab/surface you were in
The inconsistency: Claude Cowork retains its grid background in the same app update cycle, so the removal appears selective rather than principled
The functional impact: Without background differentiation, the tabs feel visually homogeneous, requiring users to rely solely on the tab label for orientation
What I’m asking for: Restore the dotted background, or at minimum provide a setting to re-enable per-surface background patterns

What Should Happen?
The CODE tab in Claude Code desktop should have the previous dotted background
