[BUG] Voice does not consider interrupting prompts
Resolved 💬 2 comments Opened Mar 14, 2026 by bholmesdev Closed Apr 12, 2026
Preflight Checklist
- [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
- [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
- [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code
What's Wrong?
I tried typing into the input with /voice. If an interrupting dialog like "do I have permission to run X command" appears while I'm talking and holding space:
- The prompt box disappears and the interrupting dialog appears
- If I start talking, the prompt box reappears
- If I pause again, the interrupting dialog appears again
This is an unexpectedly janky experience.
On a related note: if I try to hold space to talk for free-form response for planning mode, it does not input my transcription into the free-form response. Instead, the prompt box reappears and the entire planning mode response box disappears.
What Should Happen?
- If an interrupting dialog appears while I'm using voice, it should not appear until I've let go of
space. - If I use
spaceto type into a free response box in planning mode, my voice input should go into this box instead of forcing the prompt box to reappear.
Error Messages/Logs
Steps to Reproduce
- Start talking with
space - Let an interrupting permissions dialog appear
- Note the dialog forces my voice to disappear when you pause while speaking
For planning questions:
- Let a set of questions for a plan appear
- Choose the free-form input option at the end of the list of suggestions
- Try speaking with
space. Note the prompt box reappears for text input
