Documentation Type

Incorrect/outdated documentation

Documentation Location

https://code.claude.com/docs/en/commands

Section/Topic

/rename command entry in the slash commands table

Current Documentation

The /rename command is documented in the commands reference as:

/rename [name] — Rename the current session. Without a name, auto-generates one from conversation history

What's Wrong or Missing?

Changelog v2.1.75 added "session name display on the prompt bar when using /rename". The commands reference describes the renaming behavior but does not mention where the session name is visually displayed. Users reading the /rename documentation have no way to know that the session name now appears on the prompt bar after renaming.

The /color command entry on the same page references the "prompt bar" by name ("Set the prompt bar color for the current session"), establishing it as the documented term for that UI element. The /rename entry should use the same terminology.

Suggested Improvement

Update the /rename description to mention the visual effect:

Before:

Rename the current session. Without a name, auto-generates one from conversation history

After:

Rename the current session. The name is displayed on the prompt bar. Without a name, auto-generates one from conversation history

Impact

Medium - Makes feature difficult to understand
