IntelliJ plugin: no support for pasting images into chat input

Feature request

The IntelliJ Claude Code plugin does not support pasting images directly into the chat input. This is a significant UX limitation compared to the claude.ai web UI where image paste works seamlessly.

Expected behaviour

Users should be able to paste (Cmd+V / Ctrl+V) an image or screenshot directly into the chat input in the IntelliJ plugin, the same way they can on claude.ai.

Current behaviour

Pasting an image into the IntelliJ plugin chat input does nothing — the image is silently ignored.

Why this matters

For developers using Claude Code for UI/design work (reviewing screenshots, sharing error dialogs, inspecting visual output), copy-paste is the natural and fast workflow. The current workaround of saving to disk and providing a file path is slow and disruptive to flow.

Environment

  • Plugin: Claude Code for IntelliJ
  • IDE: IntelliJ IDEA
  • Platform: macOS
