What's Wrong?

Hi there,

I'm hoping you can help me out — I've hit a bit of a frustrating wall today and I'd love to get to the bottom of it.

This has actually been reported previously, but the issue was closed as a duplicate of another issue. Went to that issue and that was closed as a duplicate of the first issue so some circular closing there which was little frustrating.

The emails addresses I am using are david@houserooms.co.uk .and. contactus@houserooms.co.uk

I'm the Primary Owner of a Team plan organisation. I was mid-flow in some work when I hit my usage limit on my primary account. No problem, I thought — I have other seats for exactly this reason. So I fully logged out, closed the Claude desktop app, reopened it, and logged into a secondary account that's properly assigned in my organisation.

But the usage limit message appeared straight away, before I'd even done anything. That account hasn't been touched in about four weeks, so there's no way it should be anywhere near its limit. I'm the only person using these seats — no other team members have been set up yet.

I also tried switching to a second macOS user account on the same MacBook to log in fresh, but ran into login issues there too, making it impossible to continue working.

I've since found a GitHub bug report (https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues/12786) from December 2025 where other users report the exact same behaviour — rate limits from one account being incorrectly applied to a completely separate account on the same device. This appears to be a known device-level caching issue.

It completely stopped me in my tracks mid-work, which was pretty frustrating. I'd really appreciate it if someone could look into this for my accounts and confirm whether this bug is affecting Team plan desktop app users too.

Thanks so much for your help!

What Should Happen?

Claude should allow a second seat to continue without rate limits
