Unclear how Claude Code handles image results from MCP tool calls

When I return a FastMCP image object as the result of a tool call, I'm unable to verify whether Claude Code can view the image or not. It's unclear to me whether Claude Code can view the image just during the conversation turn in which the tool call was made but not in subsequent messages, or whether the image is not ever 'viewable' and Claude hallucinates when it says it can see it.
