Preflight Checklist
- [x] I have searched existing requests and this feature hasn't been requested yet
- [x] This is a single feature request (not multiple features)
Problem Statement
Feature Request: Eclipse IDE Plugin
Summary
Add native Claude Code integration for Eclipse IDE, similar to the existing VS Code and JetBrains plugins.
Motivation
Eclipse is widely used, especially in enterprise Java development and embedded systems.
Many developers working in these environments would benefit from Claude Code integration
without having to switch IDEs.
Desired Features
- Inline code suggestions and completions
- Chat panel within Eclipse
- Context-aware assistance (selected code, open files)
- Diff viewer for suggested changes
Current Workaround
Using the Claude Code CLI from Eclipse's built-in terminal, which lacks IDE-specific features.
Environment
- Eclipse version: 2025-12 (4.38.0)
- OS: macOS / Windows / Linux
- Primary use case: [e.g. Java development, embedded C, etc.]
Proposed Solution
Using the Claude Code CLI from Eclipse's built-in terminal, which lacks IDE-specific features.
Desired Features

The lack of support for Claude in the Eclipse IDE is why I'm sticking with Copilot :-)
Eclipse RDi (Rational Developer for i) user, developing COBOL on IBM AS400/iSeries. This integration would be very valuable for enterprise mainframe/midrange developers who are locked into the IBM tooling ecosystem and can't simply switch to VS Code
This would also be greatly helpful for SAP Developers on older platforms as ABAP Development ADT is integrated into Eclipse, whilst work is ongoing to integrate development into VS Code, this could be a really long time.
If it helps, you can check out the plugin I made that almost does all your feature requests. I'd also appreciate testers. Works well with windows and mac. Linux I haven't tested on that much. https://github.com/eilonwy06/claudecode-eclipse-ide
