[FEATURE] Max+ tier for power users who live in Claude Code 18hrs/day
I'm a Max subscriber running Opus 4.6 daily for real production work — building custom skills, shipping client platforms, teaching a graduate course. I routinely hit the mixed-tier throttle wall and know exactly how to compact, manage context, and spread work across sessions. None of that matters when the ceiling is the same for someone sending 5 prompts a day.
The problem
- Opus 4.6 burns tokens significantly faster than 4.5 (#23706)
- Power users who work 12–18hr days blow through limits by mid-afternoon
- The current tier structure doesn't differentiate between casual and professional-grade usage
- Throttling a user who knows how to drive is worse than throttling a new user — we lose compounding momentum on complex multi-session builds
And it would be kind, for people who are throttling through long days building this ecosystem — not to be snuffed out when we're still working by candlelight.
The ask
A Max+ or "Unlimited Pro" tier — $300–500/mo — with:
- 3–5x the current Max quota
- No silent model downgrading at high usage
- Throughput priority (not just volume)
- Transparent token burn dashboard so we can self-manage
I'd pay for it today. Based on the issues here (#16157, #19673, #24727, #27665, #23706), I'm not the only one.
