What's Wrong?

Bug Report: Cowork Plugins fail to load - VM service not running

Error message:

Error invoking remote method '$eipc_message$_85ccc36b-ec2b-4d65-9d1b-e6774a946207_$_claude.web_$_CustomPlugins_$_listMarketplaces': Error: VM service not running. The service failed to start.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Installed Claude Desktop on Windows
2. Opened the Cowork tab
3. Attempted to install a plugin from the marketplace (Legal plugin)
4. Error appears immediately — plugins fail to load

What I tried:

• Restarted Claude Desktop multiple times
• Restarted the computer multiple times
• Reinstalled Claude Desktop from scratch
• None of the above resolved the issue

Environment:

• OS: Windows (x64)
• Claude Desktop: latest version from claude.com/download
• Plan: Pro

Expected behavior: Plugin marketplace loads and allows plugin installation.

Actual behavior: VM service fails to start every time. Plugins are completely inaccessible.

Is there a known fix or workaround for this issue? Any debug steps I can take?
