[BUG] Stuck thinking for 28mins after compact, then compact again with 0 work done...

So, this screenshot is the entire Claude session from start to compaction. That message at the top is the first message.

28 minutes, 52k tokens... And then goes straight to compaction again.

This sort of thing has been happening for like 2 weeks now. Can you guys maybe actually look into this? Because it's getting a bit ridiculous.

To contrast, I asked Codex to do the same thing just to see how long it would take. It took 3 minutes, on Extra High thinking with GPT 5.3.

After it was all said and done, Claude finished the task at 34m 38s.

What Should Happen?

The user experience of seeing absolutely nothing happen for 30 whole minutes, then go straight to a new compaction, is a new level of rage inducing.

I'll be honest, it's probably pointless even raising this issue because I doubt anyone at Anthropic even reads them. I hope my level of frustration after experiencing this for 2 weeks straight with zero response from Anthropic is evident.
