[BUG] Why does claude code always prefix the output with a "⏺" bullet char?

Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

I sometimes want Claude Code to output code that I can copy-paste into a jupyter notebook. The "*" bullet prefix that begins any output makes this unnecessarily cumbersome - requiring either column select (which is annoying for long code blocks) or fixing indents afterward (even more annoying).

Example interaction:

What Should Happen?

Only output the bullet prefix when it makes sense . Allow the model to choose whether to output it.
