Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

esc key must stop claude and allow adding new instructions, instead of stopping all background commands! it
worked before as expected, but now after some update esc stoppes background tasks!!! I hit esc 5 times to tell claude something and stopped all background tasks. Totally not usable!
I am always correcting claude or tell something else, and don't need to stop background tasks at all!!

What Should Happen?

claude must stop and accept new input. not kill background tasks
