[BUG] /extra-usage command broke web access - forced into account creation flow

Resolved 💬 4 comments Opened Feb 11, 2026 by manufosela Closed Mar 11, 2026

Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

Ran /extra-usage in Claude Code CLI. Browser opened for authentication. I decided NOT to proceed and closed the browser tab without completing the flow. After that, claude.ai is completely broken — it redirects me to an account creation page as if my account doesn't exist.

Tried: clearing cookies, incognito mode, different browsers — same result. Claude Code CLI session still works (haven't closed it since before the issue).

OS: Linux (Ubuntu)
Plan: MAX

What Should Happen?

Closing the /extra-usage authentication flow without completing it should not affect existing web access to claude.ai. The account should remain accessible regardless of whether the user completes or cancels the extra-usage activation.

Error Messages/Logs

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Run /extra-usage in Claude Code CLI
  2. Browser opens for authentication
  3. Close the browser tab without completing the flow
  4. Try to access claude.ai in any browser
  5. claude.ai forces account creation instead of login
