[BUG] Migration from Claude code 4.5 to 4.6 re-establishes the issue where the /compact command does not function, and requires the /clear command in order to continue, which creates disruption in workflow

What's Wrong?

Claude Code 4.6 reaches limits very quickly, and then does not self-compact. issuing the /compact command results in an error, which requires the /clear command, which imparts delays in workflows

What Should Happen?

Claude should continue to self-compact successfully, as in version 4.5

Run development across a complex multi-file project. Once 4.6 reaches saturation, the issue occurs
