Bug Description
Max plan subscriber getting "The long context beta is not yet available for this subscription" error when using /model claude-opus-4-6[1m]. Opus 4.6 1M context was announced today (Feb 5, 2026) and should be available on Max plans. Same issue previously reported for Sonnet in GitHub issues #6871, #10219, #15057. Same issue here. Max 20x subscriber, Claude Code latest version.
Contacted Anthropic support — they confirmed the feature is in "limited beta" even within Max 20x, and couldn't enable it or provide a timeline. Escalated to human support, waiting for response.
At minimum, the [1m] model option should be hidden from the selector for users without access. Showing it and returning an error is misleading.
On the Max plan. It was working yesterday, now it doesn't. They removed it mid-session.
I upgraded claude cli today from 2.1.56 to 2.1.50. Yesterday prior to update, I was able to use the 1m model. Did the cli change cause this to occur? Currentlyu I'm on max 5x.
